Photoshoot with Durban photographer Tareen Ellis, she mentioned me on her blog!!!!!

I'm always preaching to aspiring models that given the opportunity to work with a new photographer, always make a good impression. Give the photographer what they're looking for- tense is not cute! besides, you're trying to be sexy yet professional. The more photographers you work with the better your experience and your growth in the modeling industry. Remember photographers always talk about models they've worked with so this could be either good or bad depending on your performance. If you're new to the industry and you're not too sure about posses and expressions, always listen to the photographer, it's always best to practise at home find your best angles this improves your confidence and your photos.

I really enjoyed working with Tareen and I'm humbled by her blog post.

What it takes to be a great model_ photoshoot

I really enjoyed watching this video, it's just basic tips for when you're at a photoshoot.  Like during a photoshoot you need to become someone else, flirt with the camera, have fun only worry about getting the best shots- don't be shy! You also need to know your best angles, the photographer might not necessarily know your best angles so practise at home so that you can get as many good shots as possible. It's a waste of time when the photographer is trying to find your best angles, it's also much better working with someone who knows what they're doing. Remember photographers also talk a lot about models they've worked with so if you want to grow in the industry always do your best at a photoshoot, give the photographer what they're looking for and have fun.

Jo-Ann Strauss YOU Magazine makeover

I just read this months issue of the YOU Magazine, model and Top Billing presenter Jo-Ann Strauss is cover girl and this issue focuses on makeovers. I must say I expected all perfect and polished, but she seems so down-to-earth though. Media today just paints celebrities as these perfect beings who obsess over being perfect and everyone wants to be like them. FAKE! FAKE! FAKE! Always be you, enjoy being in your own skin, naturally you is the best you ever because you don't have to keep adjusting yourself. I love how Jo-Ann says, "Everyone has their flaws - you just have to love yourself before others can love you".  We all need role models, but we should choose who we let inspire us. You don't want to live a fake life, be true to you, enjoy being you, how sure are you that you'll get a second chance as yourself again? Forget everyone else find you and love you.

This beautiful quote was put up on my FHM profile, it reads, "To make a positive impression, find the qualities that are positive and valuable about every person you meet. What you send is emplified through the lives of others and comes back to you wtihout fail."

Remember that what you put in is what you'll get, if you lead a fake life, you'll attract fake friends and negativity, always be you! I look up to models such as Lerato Moloi,Carol Makhathini and Jo-Ann Strauss the more real you are the more of a positive effect you'll have on people no matter how little the recognition you may get. Fake fades out and you'll eventually get tired of the act, and celebs like this usually become obsolete. Thank you Jo-Ann what a positive outlook on life.

Just Watched Naomi Campbell's Catwalk Compilation, I'm so inspired

Naomi Campbell started off her modelling career at such an early age. Love her bold walk, and those long legs. Enough said! just watch the video!

One of my favourite photos taken by Ryan Janssens

I love this photo, the art speaks to me. I'm always trying out new and different styles or fashion statements. Ryan suggested this pose, I look like such a doll. Love it! lol It reminds me of Danielle's doll photo on ANTM (America's Next Top Model). I love all things different and unique, I believe it shows insecurity to want to always follow trends and not try out something new.

Dress your body shape!

Whether slim or thick, you have a body shape, and in order to look good you need to determine the shape of your body so that you can wear the clothes that emphasize all your beautiful features. Use this fashion advise to dress to suit your body shape.

Tall & Slim: You can almost never go wrong, use your height to your advantage, wear bold prints, horizontal stripes, detailed or baggy jeans- go wild.

Pear Shape: A- shape- smaller bust, wider hips, fuller thighs, heavy legs and calves(these include petite and heavy bottom). Always try and minimise the widest areas, pay more attention on the upper part of your body, try wear clothes that will make you appear taller. Stick to tops and dresses that are halterneck, V-neck or even boob-tube, wear outfits with flare for a more flattering appearance. Wear short dressed and skirts that show off your legs, wear long dresses and skirts with heels, high-waist suits you best. Try stay away from diagonal or horizontal lines, they will either make you appear wider or shorter.

Top heavy: these include the hour glass, apple and V-shapes.  with hour glass your proportions are balanced, that is your hips and bust. Apple has wider shoulders, heavy bust, round stomach and smaller hips. V-shape is more a heavy bust and has a much smaller bottom.

Hour glass: show off your figure with fancy figure belts, wear fitted clothes and celebrate your curves.

Apple Shape: wear clothes that will draw less attention to your heavy body parts, do not wear tight t-shirts as they will show off your rounder stomach and over expose your bust, always balance your outfits. Wear skiny jeans or leggings with a  loose top.Wear clothes that make your upper body appear slimmer.

Determining the shape of your face and styles that suit you

How you wear your hair is your choice, but remember that your hair is part of your identity, think of a company logo. It is very important that you find a hairstyle that suits you! currenthealtharticles.org, says that while short hair is more for the sophisticated, mature look, which can also be rebellious depending on how you style it, long hair can mean strength, independence and sexuality.

Whether you choose to wear your hair long or short, it's very important that you treat it regularly to maintain a healthy look and prevent breakage and splitting.

Now the Face Shape Issue:
The media and celebrities play a huge role in encouraging the latest fashion trends and ladies, our hair means the world to us and most of our hairstyles are encouraged by celebrities and the latest hairtrends. As much as the media can persuade you to want to wear every style, because it's so hipp. Pause! Think! is this the right hairstyle for your face and feature? Before you make  that big mistake think about what suits you.

If you're not sure of your face shape, here are a few tips:
1. Grab a mirror, a brush, some clips get a measuring tape and a ruler
2. Tie your hair up, use the clips to clip up the short hair you couldn't tie up
3. Look into the mirror
4. With the measuring tape, measure your forehead, cheekbones and jaw line
If your forehead and cheekbones maintain roughly the same length and your chin sharpens, you have a strawberry/diamond shaped face
5. Use the edge of your ruler, place it horizontally against your face on the bridge of your nose, a proportionate shape could be a round or square face depending on the shape of your chin. A more but not overly pointed chin is a round face and a broad jaw line is a squre/ rectangular face shape depending on its length.

The shape of your face and its features should help you determine the hairstyles that suit you.
Oval: you have an unlimited amount of hairstyles that suit you, whether a pony, fringe, short or long.
Diamond/ Strawberry: layered hairstyles suit you more
Round: Your cuts should be thick, long hairstyles should come to the side of your face, to reduce the width of your face, try not to tie your hair up  as this places emphasis on the shape of your face, especially if you have a full forehead, a fringe would go with your pony. Center parted long hairstyle are best.

Features:
If you're trying to hide harge features, rather wear your hair long and thick, short hair will expose these feature.

Make-up Tips for beginners

Firstly there are some facts that you need to know about applying make-up and how to apply make-up to suit the shape of your face and to enhance your favourite features.

Take note:

1) The order in which most women apply foundation and concealer is incorrect, applying your foundation over your concealer will only smudge the concealer. Note that the purpose of the concealer is to hide dark spots and blemishes. Concealer should therefore be applied on the spots that the foundation was not able to cover.
2) Always use foundation that is suitable for your skin type. e.g. use a liquid based foundation for normal to dry skin.
3) Blush should always be applied according to the shape of your face.
Round face: begin at the lower center of your eyes on your cheekbones.
Rectangular face: apply blush on your cheekbones, below the outer corner of  your eye
Oval and rectangular: similar, apply sideways, below the eyes on your cheekbones.
4) For eyeshadow, always use large, medium and small brushes, the larger brush covers a larger part of the eyelid and is usually the lightest tone, medium covers the second largest part of the eyelid is slightly darker and the smallest is darkest. e.g for smokey eye effect: use a natural tan or light gold colour eyeshadow, this is for the rest of your your eye lid, secondly use the medium brush it can be grey, shell grey or silver, thirdly use a darker tone with the small brush and smudge it in to enhance the smokey eye.

Now for the basics:

1.Firstly,a lways wash your hands to minimize the spread of bacteria onto your face
2. Apply a dash of foundation onto your cheeks, forehead and chin, work the application of your foundation from the center of your face, avoid lines, smoothen out the foundation, if there are any spots left you can apply conceler
3. Apply concealer onto the spots or blemishes visible
4. Powder is optional
5. Apply eye make up: eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara
6. Apply your blush, always remember to blend in your blush, for a natural look
7. Apply lipstick/ gloss
Note: If you have thinner lips, for a natural sexy pout use concealer. Use a lipstick brush to apply your concealer which should be applied on the entire lip, secondly use a lip liner to enhance this effect, pastal colours are also great at enhancing your lips.

Tip:Water sprays always bring back the radiance and maintain your skins hydration.
